Palace urges hackers: Don't touch Open Data website

MANILA - The Palace appealed to hackers to spare the Open Data Philippines website.

Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said: "Open Data is your data. This is the public's data about you, so I don't think it's in the interest of the Filipinos to damage the information that we have. This is intended to make more intelligent and more participative and to make the Filipino public partners in governance."

Anonymous Philippines has allegedly set a protest action on January 25. The group is known for hacking government websites and disclosing the phone numbers of President Aquino.

“Dapat po siguro habang tayo ay nananawagan at nananalangin, ang maging pokus po ng lahat ng Pilipino ay kung ano po ang dapat gawin para lalo pong lumakas at tumatag ang republika para…pwedeng magkaisa ng layunin,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. on Sunday said. - from a report by Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
