MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang won't use the word "sortie" to describe President Aquino's appearance with the administration's senatorial candidates in Cebu Wednesday.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said it was a "local event" organized by the Liberal Party.
"From what I understand, the event in Cebu was a local LP event. That was not a sortie if you will. It was a local LP event and all the LP leaders were there," Valte said.
Responding to a statement from the minority, Valte said government funds were not used to transport the senatorial candidates to Cebu
"That goes without saying that the government is prohibited from spending any public funds on elections. The minority congressmen should also know that. And secondly if they are looking for the campaign expenses of the Liberal Party, that will be duly submitted within the prescribed time by the Comelec for the list of donors and expenditures," she said.
