MANILA - New United States Ambassador to the Philippines Philip S. Goldberg is hitting the ground running by immersing himself in Philippine culture with visits to the walled city of Intramuros, Manila with tour guide Carlos Celdran and eating Filipino food with Internet celebrity Ramon Bautista.

In a YouTube video, Goldberg said he is very excited to be assigned to the Philippines since it is his first time to be assigned to this part of Asia.

The video shows Goldberg getting a tour of Fort Santiago with Celdran and sharing chicken-pork adobo, pansit and halo-halo with Bautista.

"I love travel and history and I love seeing the sandy beaches, the great historical monuments, all that the Philippines has to offer. I am also looking forward to sharing great Filipino cuisine, from adobo with extra rice as well as great desserts like halo-halo and bibingka," Goldberg said.

Other videos also show some of Goldberg's bloopers as well as his attempts to learn Tagalog.

Goldberg was sworn in as US Ambassador to the Philippines on November 21. He previously served as ambassador to Bolivia, Kosovo and Chile.
