MANILA, Philippines – Former First Gentleman Jose Miguel ‘Mike’ Arroyo is asking the Sandiganbayan to allow him to travel to Japan and Hong Kong next month.
Arroyo’s camp filed applications for permit to travel before the divisions where he is facing separate corruption charges for the NBN-ZTE deal and the alleged overpriced sale of 2nd hand choppers to the Philippine National Police.
Arroyo wants to be in Japan from February 3 to 7 for a meeting with the local Filipino Community.
After that, he is scheduled to be in Hong Kong from February 7 to 10 for a company sponsored trip for his family company’s planning and vacation for employees.
Arroyo is a co-accused of his wife, former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in the NBN-ZTE charge, which he has sought to quash.
Previously, the anti-graft court granted him permits to travel for 2 similar trips.
Arroyo, however, did not push through with what was supposed to be his 2nd trip under a permit to travel because of the pendency of the arraignment of the case over the choppers’ deal.
