MANILA - The House of Representatives committee on energy has postponed tomorrow's scheduled investigation on the increase in electricity rates.

This after investigators of the alleged collusion of power generators that led to the hike in electricity rates have missed their own deadline to submit a report to the House of Representatives.

House Energy Committee Chair Reynaldo Umali said the Department of Energy/Energy Regulatory Commission/Philippine Electricity Market Corporation investigation report has has not been submitted to them yet. No reason was given.

"First time we tasked them to report and they failed to submit. Reportedly they said they will complete their investigation and report on 30 December and then 6 January 2014," he said.

In a previous hearing, the DOE told the House panel that they are looking into the possibility that there was a collusion among power generators to undertake unscheduled plant shutdowns alongside the scheduled shutdown of the Malampaya gas fields.

The shutdowns forced the distribution utilities to use more expensive fuel in power generation.
