True love lasts forever.

That is what two World War II sweethearts proved.

The 93-year-old veteran Norwood Thomas and 88-year-old Joyce Morris have found their way back into each other's arms after nearly 70 years.

Thomas flew to Australia to reunite with his wartime girlfriend he met when he was just 21.

They broke up when Morris declined to relocate to the US.

One of Morris' children read about Thomas in an article and eventually made contact with him.

Their story sparked the interest of the public who came together to fund the reunion.

Air New Zealand also offered Thomas a free flight to Australia.
