MANILA, Philippines – A new YouTube application for the iPhone was released Tuesday, nearly a month after Apple said it will not include a pre-loaded app for the video-sharing website on the newest version of its mobile operating system.
The app, which can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store, features a new channel guide which can be accessed by swiping a finger from the left edge of the iPhone screen.
It also has new search tools that give suggestions to users as they type, and let them sort through videos and channels while watching a clip.
The reprogrammed YouTube app also lets users share videos on social media sites such as Google+, Facebook and Twitter.
Last month, Apple announced that it will not include a pre-loaded YouTube app on its new iPhone and iPad software.
The move was seen as a sign of the growing rivalry between Apple and the video service’s owner, Google.
