LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Last year, driverless cars and sensored forks were among the “wow” products that left quite a remarkable impression on the world.
This year, members of the consumer electronics industry from all over convene at the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the trade show of trade shows where exhibitors show off what's new in the electronics world.
Among the products featured is an electric toothbrush which monitors how well one is brushing his teeth.
“It's not gonna track how long you brush your teeth but the effectiveness of your teeth brushing through the censors and the head,” said Amy Forrester of Kolibree.
A quadricopter “mini-drone” consists of a barometer, a three access gyro, a three access accelerometer, a sonar sensor and a high speed camera--these features help with the stability and control of the flying experience, and the mini-drone is controllable by using a smartphone.
“It's a great starting point for beginners. You want to learn how to fly a helicopter that is full of technology by using a smart phone,” said Peter George of Parrot.com
A smartphone from LG called the LG Flex is curved, with a 6-inch OLED display, that better fits the contours of your face.
“It does flex as the name LG Flex like if you're wearing it in your back pocket sit on it, it won't break,” said Crystal Syzdek of LG Mobile.
For those power users of mobile phones and tablets, a solar case will suit their needs. One can now charge a phone using solar power or artificial lights with solar powered mobile and tablet power cases.
Then there is the bootcase line of powered phone cases which comes in handy for ladies and gents who like to be minimal with their belongings while partying.
Meanwhile, Lenovo takes last year's design further with this new tablet computer combo the Yoga 2 Pro.
“If you look at the outside it looks like a notebook you can easily turn it into a tablet easily because of the special magnet design you can easily detached and attached and JBL speakers for entertainment,” said Lenovo's Yang Chun.
Another product, a table tablet, enables you to get pictures from your smartphone in literally a second of time. One can also adjust and edit the pictures in just a few simple steps.
Thousands of CES spectators are expected to attend this year's electronics show extravaganza.
