MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe 2012 first runner-up Janine Tugonon was never too busy even on Christmas Eve to help bring some holiday cheer for underprivileged kids.

Two days after she returned to the country since her near-win in the 61st Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas, Tugonon accompanied about 2,500 underprivileged kids to the “Disney on Ice” show at the Araneta Coliseum.

This was among Tugonon’s many activities to help spread the holiday spirit.

"It's one of the best Christmas gifts I could think of giving these kids. Makita ko lang sila ngumiti, masaya na rin ako," shared Tugonon.

The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), which handles Tugonon’s day-to-day activities, has been active in organizing and participating in programs that help poor communities.

Among their ventures include Operation Smile, World Food Programme and relief operations for victims of typhoons and natural calamities.

Tugonon’s contract with BPCI will be until the end of her reign in October next year.
