MANILA – Google Philippines released its “zeitgeist” for 2013, which includes lists of top searches for different categories.

Also part of the search engine giant’s zeitgeist is a list of most searched restaurants in the country, which is topped by United States-based chain IHOP.

Launched in February this year, IHOP’s first Philippine branch at W Global Center in Bonifacio Global City attracted long lines for months, with Filipinos ordering the restaurant’s pancakes and other breakfast items.

Just recently, IHOP opened its second branch at the UP Town Center, a new Ayala development along Katipunan in Quezon City.

Second on Google Philippines’ zeitgeist list for 2013 is another all-day dining breakfast concept from the US, Slappy Cakes.

The restaurant piqued Filipinos’ interest for its “do-it-yourself pancakes” experience, serving batter-filled squeeze bottles and a variety of toppings.

Slappy Cakes was launched in May this year at Eastwood Mall in Quezon City.

Landing in third place is the popular buffet destination Vikings, followed by French-Asian bakery Tous Les Jours and J.CO Donuts, which topped the zeitgeist list for the first half of 2013.

The fried chicken chain KFC ranked sixth, followed by the Filipino restaurant Amber’s, and fast food giants McDonald’s and Jollibee.

The homegrown Japanese concept SumoSam rounded out the Top 10.
