LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- The 89 Miss Universe candidates are in the thick of rehearsals two days before the coronation night.

2012 rehearsals at the Planet Hollywood Theater to support the
Philippines' bet to the pageant, Janine Tugonon.
Organizers are strict. The girls have to practice their walk, positions and turns for the show until they know it by ear.
The girls should always look good and poised every second on stage to show the “Miss Universe factor" that the judges are looking for.
Also seen at the Planet Hollywood Theater is 2011 third runner-up Shampcey Supsup, who is the web host for this year's Miss Universe. Supsup interviewed the candidates on their pageant experience.
The rehearsals are not open to the public, but family and friends of the candidates are allowed to get a sneak peek. There was a big Filipino group to support Philippine bet Janine Tugonon.
Miss Universe 2010 fourth runner-up Venus Raj was one of those who eagerly watched the rehearsals. She was taking pictures and videos of the girls on stage.
After many hours of going through the routine, the candidates were given a ten-minute break. Tugonon went up the mezzanine to talk to the enthusiastic Pinoy group.
Tugonon got a big boost as she got together with Raj and Supsup, who gave her some words of encouragement. Both Filipina beauty queens were all praises for their successor. They believe Tugonon will go far in this year’s pageant.
“Ito ‘yung pakiramdam na naramdaman ko dati kay Shamcey. Parang goosebumps ka every time na tinitingnan mo siya, na alam mo na may laban, at alam mong may panalo,” said Raj.
“More on emotional preparedness ‘yung tinuturo ko sa kanya,” Supsup added. “Kasi sa walk, may mga sarili kaming walk eh.”
Tugonon, meanwhile, is relaxed and blooming , and prepared to give the pageant her best. “Siguro sa state of mind, happy lang. Tama ‘yung ganoong pananaw. Enjoy lang,” she said.
Other candidates were also tired, but remain focused on their dream of bringing home the Miss Universe crown.
