MANILA, Philippines -- Miss Universe has introduced to netizens the Philippines' delegate to the annual beauty competition via a pre-pageant question-and-answer video released online.
Along with other contestants', Janine Tugonon's Q&A reel was released Sunday via the video-sharing site YouTube.
In the video, Tugonon, 23, answers three questions as a way of "getting to know" this year's contenders to the world's biggest beauty contest.
Asked on her favorite holiday tradition, the Pharmacy graduate of the University of Santo Tomas pointed to simply spending time with her family "eating, singing and dancing."
Tugonon, who is described as an "adventurous spirit" in her Miss Universe profile page, also related her "most interesting dating experience."
She recalled an instance when she and her boyfriend were stunned when their taxi driver chased a fellow cab driver with a gun in hand.
And if the world were to end tomorrow?
Tugonon answered, "I would probably eat a lot, with my family and with the people I love."
Leading up to the Miss Universe coronation night on December 20 (Manila time) -- which will be aired live on ABS-CBN -- Filipino supporters have taken to social networking sites to support Tugonon.
The morena beauty can have a sure spot in the semifinals of this year's Miss Universe if she garners the highest number of votes in the online polls of the annual pageant.
The online voting will be held until December 18, a day before the coronation night.
Tugonon is the Philippines' representative to Miss Universe after the back-to-back runner-up feats of her predecessors – Shamcey Supsup won third runner-up in last year’s competition, while Venus Raj placed fourth runner-up in 2010.
The Philippines is still hoping to produce its third Miss Universe winner after Gloria Diaz and Margie Moran.
