MANILA, Philippines - Women should forge their own path, according to Christine Lagarde, managing director at the International Monetary Fund and acclaimed as one of the world's most powerful women.
"Follow your own path and realize your own dream," Lagarde told ABS-CBN News Senior Correspondent Ces Drilon when asked to give advice to women in general.
The IMF chief arrived in Manila on Thursday and met with government executives and the media the next day.
She also spoke at a forum for students on Friday and afterward met with business leaders.
Lagarde, the first woman to head the IMF, urged women to be confident about themselves and seek advice from fellow women in times of need.
"Very often, we tend to undermine our capabilities, our skill sets, our ambitions," Lagarde said.
"Reach out for other women to give you a hand and support you," she continued.
Lagarde has been ranked 8th in Forbes' most powerful women in the world and 39th in the most powerful people list.
Prior to her appointment at the IMF, Lagarde worked as France's finance minister from 2007 to 2011.
