MANILA, Philippines -- "Star Power" finalist K-La Rivera confirmed that she will audition for the role of Kim for the upcoming revival of the hit international musical "Miss Saigon" at London's West End next year.
|K-La Rivera speaks to reporters during a press conference for 'Aladdin' held Tuesday.
The "Miss Saigon" production team is again flying to Manila to hold auditions for the lead role of Kim, a 17-year-old Vietnamese bar girl, as well as ensemble cast members.
"Opo, I will audition. I will try for Kim pero whatever, we will just see what will happen, who knows," Rivera told ABS-CBNnews.com on Tuesday after a press conference of the upcoming stage musical "Aladdin" with Tom Rodriguez and Aiza Seguerra.
Rivera said it's really her dream to play Kim in the musical. Her audition is set on November 22.
"Ako I wanted to audition when I heard that it was coming. Kasi you can never lose anything by auditioning. Then when I saw some articles that parang they were hoping for me to audition, I was also inspired to audition. So my family, my friends are all very supportive. All of them are just saying 'go audition, do your best, God bless,'" she said.
Rivera is included in "Miss Saigon" Philippine representative Dong Alegre's wish list of FIlipino singers he wants to see at the auditions, along with Rachelle Ann Go, Denise Laurel, Angeline Quinto and Karylle.
"Ngayon I'm just preparing by learning the songs. I'm reading the script and I'm just trying to get advise sa mga directors ko po and singing lessons for the audition," Rivera said.
Rivera believes her experience from playing the role of Jasmine in "Aladdin" will also help her in her auditions.
"Of course, it's a good experience po for me to do 'Aladdin' so I can get to the rhythm of singing and acting. I'm very blessed to be given this. It's really exciting kasi it's my dream din po to be a princess and nandito ako as Princess Jasmine," she said.
"Aladdin" will open on November 16 at the Meralco Theater.
