MANILA, Philippines – Filipino gamers got one up over the American counterparts as they were able to get their hands on the much-awaited video game Assassin's Creed 3, which goes on sale in North America later on Tuesday, October 30.
“FREEDOM WILL RISE. Assassin's Creed 3 is now at DataBlitz PH,” the gaming and multimedia store chain DataBlitz posted on its Facebook and Twitter accounts on Tuesday.
“Experience the untold story of the American Revolution. Fight to win freedom for your land and your people,” it said, adding that the new game is now available for Sony PlayStation and Xbox 360, while PC copies will be released on November 23.
Suggested retail prices range from P1,794 for the standard edition for Xbox to P3,195 for the Asia Collector’s Edition, DataBlitz said.
Assassin's Creed 3 for the PlayStation Vita was also released on Tuesday afternoon for P1,495.
Netizens were reporting long lines at the various DataBlitz branches but many were able to purchase the game.
“I was the first one who bought AC3 in Datablitz #proud,” announced Joshua Amon on Twitter. “I’'m so lucky Datablitz is just outside my village.”
“Mas mahaba pa 'yung pila ng redemption sa AC 3 na game sa Datablitz kanina kumpara sa on-campus enlistment namin!” said Lance Cordoba on Twitter.
“I'm a happy kid right now!” said Peter Paul Cepe on Twitter, even posting some photos.
“Finally got my hands on AC III!” said Twitter user Arvinjay Bautista.
Developed by Ubisoft, the main portion of Assassin's Creed 3 is set before, during and after the American Revolution featuring a new protagonist – the half-English and half-Native American, Connor Kenway. The game will also feature the "present day" setting, where series' protagonist Desmond Miles must try to prevent the 2012 apocalypse.
Australia’s news.com.au gave the game a perfect 5/5 rating.
“Not only does it present the most expansive setting so far, from Boston and New York to sprawling forests and mountain ranges, it also features the most diverse gameplay, including hunting challenges and spectacular naval battles. A strong contender for the game of the year,” game reviewer Tristan Ogilvie wrote on the Australian website.
Italy's Official Xbox Magazine also rated it a perfect 10.
