5 must-try foods at Manda Centrale

MANILA, Philippines -- From the organizers of the popular night food  markets Mercato Centrale at the Bonifacio Global City, Soderno in  Alabang and Distrito in Makati, Manda Centrale brings the night food  market experience to Mandaluyong.

Despite the heavy rains, Manda Centrale successfully launched last  Wednesday night, October 24, at the Mayflower parking area of the  Greenfield district near Crossing. The night food market opened to a  full crowd of hungry diners eager to partake of the latest food offerings. 

Mandaluyong foodies can now enjoy popular night market staples such as  the Carlos Kitchen's crunchy belly, Lu Chi’s mega pork siomai,  Edgy’s Food Trip and Drinks, Big Bob’s charcoal-grilled burgers, Mr. T, Mad About Spuds and Mio’s Gelati premium ice cream, among others.

Manda Centrale truly delivers with foodie finds -- some familiar and some new. Here are some of them:

B. Wings Buffalo Chicken. (Pictured above) With experimental flavors such as buffalo wings coated with a chocolate and chilli sauce called the Black Mamba, this stall is a foodie adventure station.

Sinangag Trip. For affordable sinangag meals, go for the Hungarian sausage wrapped with bacon.

Panchados. (Pictured above) Serving your savory mechado in an oversized pandesal topped with melted cheese, this stall had me at pandesal. Ideal for those on a diet, or those avoiding rice.

Cake’s by K. Formerly found in Distrito, among the must-try items here is their crepe cakes (layers of pastry crème and crepes, drizzled with chocolate or dusted with powder, or covered in nuts).

Gino’s Brick Oven Pizza. (Pictured above) This popular pizza place on Katipunan Ave. in Quezon City, known for their crispy crust from their brick oven, as well as their innovative Italian offerings, will be a welcome addition to any foodie’s night market experience. Also, try their desserts – one of them is called Crack Pie.

What makes a night food market enjoyable? Could it be the al fresco dining experience? Or is it the variety of unique choices available? It's all these and more. So one thing’s for sure: night food markets are here to stay.

And with more than 40 stalls selling a variety of food stuff from Japanese (Moshi Moshi) to freshly grilled liempo to tempting desserts,  Manda Centrale is a welcome addition to the night food market bandwagon, so stop and try.

Manda Centrale is located in the Greenfiled district (formerly EDSA Central), in front of the the Greenfield Corporate Center on United St., Mandaluyong City (near the corner of EDSA and Shaw Boulevard. It is open Wednesdays to Fridays from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. There will also be live acoustic performances and monthly bazaars.
