MANILA, Philippines - Scores of devotees and Catholic faithful are flocking the Pedro Calungsod Art Exhibit being held at the Eastwood Mall Atrium.

The exhibit, which opened Monday, comes at the heels of Calungsod's canonization. It features more than 60 paintings and artwork from Angono artists who have interpreted Calungsod's likeness and showed him doing his missionary work in the Marianas Islands.

"Megaworld is honored to be hosting this exhibit dedicated to Pedro Calungsod. He is an inspiration to the Filipino youth and a shining example for Christians all over the world. We hope that through this exhibit, more people will be able to discover the life of Pedro Calungsod and draw strength and encouragement from his example," Megaworld Corporation first vice-president Kevin Tan said in a statement.

The various paintings depict the events in Calungsod's life.

Some of those who went to the exhibit brought their children and grandchildren to get to know the new saint.

The exhibit is open to the public until Wednesday.

The exhibit was produced as collaboration between the National Commission of the Canonization of Pedro Calungsod and several Angono artists' groups like the Angono Ateliers Association, Angono Artists Association, the Neo-Angono Artists and the University of Rizal System-Angono. -- with a report from Apples Jalandoni, ABS-CBN News
