Bayan Patroller gets P20K for best 'green' photo
MANILA, Philippines - Jon Isip won Bayan Mo iPatrol Mo’s (BMPM) photo contest on the environment entitled iPhoto Mo, Kapaligiran Mo.
Isip bested more than 100 other entries sent by Bayan Patrollers from all over the country of pictures concerning the environment.
A lot of the pictures were well-composed photographs of scenes in the countryside, like the sunset, flora, and local environmental issues such as trash and flooding in some communities.
But it was Isip’s lyrical interpretation of a tree stump set in a forest of new-growth trees that earned the judges' nod.
The judges, composed of documentary photographer Alex Baluyut, academician Jimmy Domingo, and abs-cbnNEWS Photo Editor Fernando Sepe, Jr., considered Isip’s use of the visual elements in composition in furthering the environmental message of the picture in their decision.
Isip won the top prize of P20,000 from abs-cbnNEWS.com.
Other notable entries were Kwami Biasbas' picture of a boy running along a dike with lilies in the foreground, which earned a third place finish, and Vincent Dancel’s picture of a young lady fetching water from a river, which placed second.
Biasbas and Dancel will each get a mobile phone courtesy of LG.
The photo contest was held in conjunction with BMPM’s Environment Day held at the Marikina Sports Complex, which attracted thousands of new registrants to the growing BMPM community.
