MANILA, Philippines -- Actress and singer Karylle is planning to audition for the role of Kim for the upcoming revival of the hit international musical "Miss Saigon" at London's West End.

The "Miss Saigon" production team is again flying to Manila to hold auditions for the lead role of Kim, the 17-year-old Vietnamese bar girl, as well as ensemble cast members, next month.

"Ako, I'll audition because I really audition for everything. That's how I got 'The Kitchen Musical,' I auditioned for it," Karylle told ABS-CBNnews.com.

Karylle explained that she's doesn't see anything wrong in auditioning for a role.

"Kasi alam mo in America that's how they do it. Parang here, siguro mayroon lang kasing kakambal na intriga 'yung hindi mo nakuha 'yung role. Like I've auditioned for so many things talaga. Na-realize ko naman 'yung mga hindi ko nakuha ay hindi din naman talaga para sa akin," she said.

"One thing na I auditioned and nakuha ko and I'm so happy yung 'The Kitchen Musical' for example and 'yung 'West Side Story.' Sa 'Little Mermaid' I auditioned and I didn't get the lead role pero ako 'yung kasama as Princess Sapphire but these are all things na kasama ng pagiging actress," she said.

The "It's Showtime" host is currently busy preparing for her new stage musical "Rama Hari" with her "West Side Story" and "The Kitchen Musical" co-star Christian Bautista.

A revival of the 1980 pop opera ballet, "Rama Hari" will have performances from November 30 to December 9 at the Main Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Asked what she likes about theater, Karylle replied: "Siguro kasi when I was younger I danced ballet. So that is also held in a theater, so it's my first home, it's where I feel more comfortable talaga."

'Zsa Zsa is good'

Meanwhile, Karylle also reported that her mother, singer and actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, is set to shoot a new movie.

"She is gonna start shooting for a new movie very soon. She went to Singapore for 'ASAP.' She's very good actually," Karylle told ABS-CBNnews.com.

After the pain of losing her long-time partner, King of Philippine Comedy Dolphy, Padilla also had a health scare when she was initially diagnosed with cancer, which eventually was found to be benign.

Right now, Karylle said her mother is trying to live a healthier lifestyle.

"She's trying to be healthier even more. Even before she's always working out, she's always eating fruits and careful with her diet but somehow she still got sick. But I guess it's also because of stress. So now, she's really trying a healthier lifestyle. Sila ni Zia are really trying healthy foods talaga to eat," Karylle said.
