MANILA, Philippines – Liam Neeson thriller “Taken 2” dominated the local box office after earning nearly P65 million in its first four days in Philippine theaters.
According to a press statement sent by 20th Century Fox Philippines publicist Mae Vecina, “Taken 2” raked in P64.82 million from local theaters from October 4 to 7.
In Metro Manila alone, the movie earned P46.32 million over the said period.
“Ayala Malls Cinema’s Trinoma led ‘Taken 2’s’ strong weekend gross that packed in the most admissions (17,204) with a gross of P3.2 million. SM Mall of Asia came in next with a whopping P3-million gross. Cinemas that also raked in millions of box-office receipts included in the top ten are Glorietta 4 with P2.63 million, Powerplant (P2.3 million), SM North EDSA/The Block (P2.29 million), Newport (P2.21 million), SM Megamall (P2.08 million), Eastwood (P1.9 million), Alabang Town Center (P1.58 million) and Gateway Cineplex/Ali Mall (P1.57 million),” the press statement read.
“More cinemas within ‘Taken 2’s’ million mark are SM Cebu with P1.53 million, Ayala Cebu (P1.42 million), Robinsons Ermita (P1.34 million), Shang Cineplex (P1.19 million), Theatremall (P1.18 million), SM Fairview (P1.11 million), Greenbelt 3 (P1.1 million), Filinvest (P1.07 million), Robinsons Galleria (P1.06 million) and SM Southmall (P1.04 million),” it added.

The movie, which stars Neeson as a former CIA agent kidnapped during a vacation in Istanbul, earned $117 million when it opened in 50 international markets.
