NORWALK, California -- Celebrity doctor Vicki Belo closed her clinic in Los Angeles just over one year since it opened in June 2011.

Although she said the clinic was successful, Belo explained she was tired from the constant travelling, as she runs many clinics in Manila as well.

As a self-described hands-on owner, she also didn't like that her involvement in the LA clinic was limited because of local regulations.

“I didn't really realize how tiring it would be for me. I come here (Los Angeles) for six weeks just to rest and watch TV and shop,” Belo told ABS-CBN News.

“Now this time, when I was here to open the clinic, I was here every month almost and working really hard so I got so tired. And when I'd be in Manila I would worry about the clinic. Now I realize I'm a hands-on person and I shouldn't open clinics I can't be in,” she added.

There were no records of violations according to the state's medical board and business bureau, and Belo said they have refunded all their clients that have prepaid for services.

The 56-year-old Belo said she has also been more relaxed after her break up with former boyfriend doctor-turned-actor Hayden Kho.

Recently, Kho said he promises to be a faithful friend to Belo while he still works with her on some business ventures.

“He may not be the most faithful boyfriend, but he is the most loyal friend. So I really do miss that kind of friendship so we're trying to move backwards and hopefully it will work,” Belo said.

“I've been successful with my ex-husband. I hope I'm successful with Hayden as a friend because he's added so much in my life,” she added.

Belo is in Southern California to host a beauty talk with Marlou Colina, a make-up artist to Filipino celebrities.

Belo, who is known for introducing new technology to beauty, and Colina, who recently launched an organic product line, spoke on their expertise to hundreds of attendees.

“God gave me this talent and having me meet [Belo] at the right time, it's perfect timing, and I'm just glad that Dr. Vicki Belo is trusting my ability, my capability of educating people,” Colina said.

With Belo no longer planning to open up clinics in other countries, she's looking into retailing her own beauty products globally while also using her star power to promote Colina's products.
