MANILA, Philippines – Angeline Quinto’s new home is only a stone’s throw away from her workplace, ABS-CBN, in Quezon City.
The first winner of the Kapamilya singing contest “Star Power” bought the unit at a discounted price from actress-host Kris Aquino, who happens to own three properties in the residential tower near the Kapamilya network’s headquarters.
A studio-type unit in the said residential tower costs a little less than P5 million without a parking lot.
“After n’un, ilang linggo po, nagulat ako nu’ng sinabi po ni Ate Kris kung gusto ko daw pong bilhin ‘yung unit na ‘to sa presyong mababa,” Quinto said in an interview in the October issue of StarStudio magazine. “Akala ko nagbibiro lang. [Sabi ko] ‘Sige po. Pero hindi po ako makakabayad agad kasi nga may pinapatayo din akong bahay.’”
Aside from the discount, Aquino allowed Quinto to pay for the 58-square meter studio unit in installments in two years.
The singer was also left with the actress-host’s queen-size bed, two flat-screen televisions, an air-conditioner and a refrigerator.
Aquino, dubbed as the “Queen of All Media” for her success in TV, movies and product endorsements, also gave Quinto some pairs of shoes from Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Louboutin.
Asked how Aquino took a liking to her, the singer said: “Minsan po kasi na nag-guest ako sa ‘Kris TV,’ parang nagustuhan niya po ako. Sabi po niya sa akin na huwag kong babaguhin ‘yung pagiging natural ko. ‘Diyan ka minahal ng tao sa pagiging natural mo.’”
Quinto’s new space was designed by Teresa Medina, who has also been tapped by actress Bea Alonzo, host Ogie Diaz and singer Eric Santos.
The singer also has a six-bedroom house being built in Fairview, Quezon City, which is set to be finished next year.
