MANILA, Philippines – Here are some new events that may make food lovers happy.

Foie gras and mushrooms at Tivoli

Ongoing at the Tivoli restaurant of the Mandarin Oriental, Manila is “Foie Gras and Mushrooms,” its signature promotion that showcases Europe’s prized delicacies in a exquisite menu prepared by executive sous chef Remi Vercelli.

A dedicated ala carte menu features three starters -- Wild Mushrooms Crème Brulee, Foie Gras Ice Cream and Pumpernickel; Paté of Foie Gras and Smoked Magret Duck, Wild Mushroom Salad and Cherry Mustard; and Balloon of Escargot and Duck Liver “a la Bourguignonne” and Wild Mushrooms.

For the main course, the choices include Grilled Australian Lamb Fillet, Turnip Mash, Trompette de la Mort Mushrooms and Thyme Jus; Butter Poached Salmon, Foie Gras Chaud-froid, Potato Sarladaise and Pied de Mouton Mushroom; and the classic Wild Mushrooms Risotto topped with Pan-Fried Duck Liver.

Cinnamon Parfait with Rum- Marinated Figs and Chocolate Ravioli, and a serving of Mango Sans Rival with Balsamic Ice Crème sweeten the gourmet experience.

The promotion runs until October 6 only.

Coffee Origins turns 10

The Philippine Coffee Board Inc (PCBI), the country’s oldest non-profit which promotes Philippine coffee, will again provide thousands of cups of coffee from October 4 to 14 at the Greenbelt 5 Gallery in Makati City.

The PCBI has invited partners like Alaska Fresh Milk, Krem Top creamers, Aquabest water and other coffee accompaniments to celebrate coffee month with coffee-making and latte art demonstrations and other coffee-business related activities.

Seminars on coffee will also be held in Enderun Colleges on October 20 and 27.

The 5th National Coffee Summit, meanwhile, will be on October 5 at the AIM Conference Center from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., where coffee stakeholders will learn about new developments in coffee planting, processing and organic and natural farming.

Chelsea, Stella join Restaurant Week 2012

Chelsea Market & Café  and Stella Restaurant are joining this year’s Wine Depot Restaurant Week happening on October 8 to 14.

For the fifth consecutive year, Wine Depot has gathered over 100 of the country's top restaurants to showcase a special menu for less than P1,000 paired with premium wines.

Chelsea’s special menu for only P750 per person includes "Chelsea Greek" Panko Crusted Feta Cheese (Kalamata Olives, Fresh Tomatoes, Cucumber, Mint, Tri-Color Bell Peppers, Baby Romaine, Sweet Lemon and Dill Yogurt Dressing), Summer Squash & Goat Cheese (Fresh Herbs and Crème Fraiche), an entrée choice of Chelsea’s Own Roasted Clam and Sundried Tomato "Vongole" tossed with Roasted Garlic, Anchovies, Fresh Lemon, Basil & Parsley in a Light and Creamy Clam Broth, Slow-Cooked Herbed Norwegian Salmon with Salsa Verde, Mashed Potatoes, and Toasted Pine Nuts, Crisp Citrus-Rosemary Roasted Pork Belly with Chili Cranberry Apricot Chutney, Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Garlic Baby Asparagus served with Rosemary Olive Jus, or Southern Style Cornflake and Oatmeal Crusted Fried Chicken in a Basket with Rosemary Wild Mushroom Gravy, Home Fries, Arugula & Apple Salad, and Brownie Souffle served with Vanilla Gelato for dessert.

Stella’s special Restaurant Week menu for only P595 per person includes The Stella Salad (Butter Lettuce, Crispy Bacon, Sundried Tomato bits, Rosemary Pistachios, Butter Milk-Chive Ranch Dressing, and Malagos Pecorino), Fire Roasted Corn and Shrimp Scampi Soup (Salsa Fresca, Fresh Cilantro, and Lime), an entrée choice of Stella’s Porchetta (Pork Belly Roll Stuffed with Double Smoked Bacon, Fennel, Herbs and Rosemary Sultana Sauce), Rosemary Butter and Bacon “Butterfly” Chicken with Chicken Liver Gravy, three-piece Spanish Chorizo Stuffed Prawns with Garlic Slivers, Herb and Pernod Butter Breadcrumbs, and Fresh Lemon, or Wood-Fired Garlic Mushroom Cream Fettucine with Porcini Dust, Truffle Oil, Malagos Pecorino, Fresh Lemon, Herbs, and Wood-Fired Chocolate Almond Cookie Dough with Salted Caramel, Rosemary Pistachios, and Mantecado Ice Cream for dessert.
