MANILA, Philippines - Actress Alessandra de Rossi happily announced that her indie film "Busong" directed by Auraeus Solito won the grand prize at the National Geographic All Roads Film Festival, which kicked off in Washington DC on Thursday (September 27).
"Busong won the grand prize at the National Geographic All Roads Film Festival in Washington! YEEEEEEY!!! mabuhay!" de Rossi said on Twitter.
The one-and-a-half-hour long Palawanon film tackles the indigenous concept of "busong," which means fate or instant karma.
“It tackles the three major issues in Palawan: illegal logging, mining and dynamite fishing. It’s about three busongs,” Solito said in a previous interview.
Last April, "Busong" had its special theatrical run at the Shangri-La Cineplex.
De Rossi flew to France last May for the red-carpet world premiere of “Busong,” which has been selected to be part of the Directors’ Fortnight at the 64th Cannes International Film Festival.
