MANILA, Philippines – Francis Libiran, who has made dresses for “America’s Next Top Model” host Tyra Banks, will have his first gala show on Friday as part of the centennial celebration of the Manila Hotel.

Titled “100: The Francis Libiran Fashion Gala,” it will be held at the lobby of the Manila Hotel at 8 p.m. on September 28.

Libiran said the upcoming fashion show will feature modern twists on the Filipiniana dress to keep up with the look and feel of Manila Hotel, which is a historical landmark.

“It’s for the 100 years of Manila Hotel,” he told ANC on Monday. “It’s my first gala show, too. It’s the first time that they’ll (Manila Hotel) do this.”

Asked about the recent success of Filipino designers abroad such as Oliver Tolentino, who dressed up “Extra” host Maria Menounos for the Emmys, Libiran said: “Filipino designers are very talented. It’s just about exposure, we need that worldwide exposure.”
