4 new cable shows starting this week

Ben 10 Omniverse

What it is about: Boy-next-door turned superhero Ben Tennyson of the hit “Ben 10” series returns with a new show on Cartoon Network. In “Ben 10: Omniverse”, Tennyson discovers enemies from his past looking for a rematch, all while a mysterious hunter is hot on his trail. He is also accompanied by a new partner named Rook.

Schedule: “Ben 10: Omniverse” will premiere on Cartoon Network on September 28, 6 p.m. Fans can also get the latest “Ben 10” content such as free and paid mobile games, video clips and comics on CartoonNetwork.com.ph and iTunes starting September 28. New “Ben 10: Omniverse” toys from Bandai, meanwhile, will be available in the Philippines starting October 6.

Globe Trekker 15

What it is about: The 15th season of the adventure tourism series on TLC, “Globe Trekker,” takes viewers to remote islands, lively cities and countries that have gone through drastic changes. The season kicks off with Uruguay and Paraguay, followed by Buenos Aires, Australia, and the isolated islands in the Pacific and Atlantic.

Schedule: “Globe Trekker 15” will premiere on TLC on September 28 at 10 p.m. Its regular schedule is every Wednesday at 10 p.m., with replays every Thursday at 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., every Saturday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., and every Sunday at 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Mythbusters 8

What it is about: The eighth season of the science entertainment TV program on Discovery Channel, “Mythbusters,” testing everyday myths and urban legends, from surfing the shockwave of an explosion to wearing heels while driving.

Schedule: “Mythbusters 8” will premiere on Discovery Channel on October 5 at 9 p.m. Its regular schedule is every Friday at 9 p.m., with replays every Saturday at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

One Giant Leap: A Neil Armstrong Tribute

What it is about: This one-hour documentary by Discovery Science is a tribute to Neil Armstrong, an American astronaut and the first person to walk on the moon, who passed away last August 25. It will feature personal interviews with Armstrong and his crewmates Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, and access to the Apollo 11 archives.

Schedule: “One Giant Leap: A Neil Armstrong Tribute” will premiere on October 1 at 7:30 p.m. on Discovery Science, with replays at 10:30 p.m. (same day), October 2 at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m., and October 7 at 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
