MANILA, Philippines -- For her latest venture as a restaurateur, actress Jodi Sta. Maria is joined by fellow businesswoman and actress-host Kris Aquino.
|The Eastwood City Walk branch of Rue Bourbon Bar held its grand opening on Thursday night.
Sta. Maria, along with her friends and partners in business, held the opening of their "third baby," the Rue Bourbon Bar and Restaurant at the Eastwood City Walk in Libis, Quezon City.
"Third branch na namin. We have one sa the Fort (Bonifacio Global City), we have one in Salcedo (Makati), and this is the newest baby," Sta. Maria told ABS-CBN News on Thursday.
"We wanted to bring 'yung Bourbon Street here sa Manila," she added, relating the concept behind the bar.
Bourbon is a street in at the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is popular as a setting for the Mardi Gras celebration, when thousands of tourists flock to the streets drinking alcoholic beverages.
"We wanted to bring 'yung mga Mardi Gras, 'yung ganoong feeling, 'yung ganoong experience, enjoying good drinks, good food. Magiging merry ka lang when you're here," Sta. Maria said.
According to the Kapamilya actress, Aquino is one of the partners handling the bar's third branch.
"There was one time, si Kris, [she featured] 'yung Salcedo [branch]," Sta. Maria related, explaining how the partnership came about.
"Pina-try namin siya ng mga food and naniwala siya sa konsepto, nagustuhan niya 'yung pagkain. Sabi niya, 'Jods, next time na magpu-put up kayo ng isa pang branch, please count me in,'" she added.
Having started her career as an actress when she was 17, Sta. Maria continues to be among the most visible and acclaimed actresses of her generation.
Currently, she topbills the top-rating morning series "Be Careful With My Heart."
Quizzed on how she manages her time for her resposibilities as a mom -- she has a seven-year-old son Thirdy -- her being an actress, and as a businesswoman, Sta. Maria expressed confidence in her partners in handling their restaurant well even without her presence.
"I have my partners naman with me na katulong ko rin sa business, so kahit na hindi ako masyado nakakapunta dahil sobrang busy ng schedule, alam kong andiyan sila, at hindi naman nila to pababayaan. Expert sila sa pagpapatakbo ng restaurant," she said.
