MANILA - ABS-CBN president and chief executive officer Charo Santos-Concio has accepted the ice bucket challenge which aims to raise funds for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research.
In a video posted online on Saturday, the head of the Kapamilya network did the challenge after being nominated by TV Patrol reporters Gretchen Fullido and Doris Bigornia, among others.
She then nominated Senator Grace Poe and actress Dawn Zulueta.
Since the campaign started in the US back in July, a galaxy of celebrities and personalities have taken up the cause.
The viral craze was reported to have raised more than $100 million (over P4.3 billion) as of writing.
Among the local celebrities who joined the cause were Anne Curtis, Lea Salonga, Vice Ganda, and couples Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano.
While rules vary, the ice bucket challenge generally has participants recording themselves getting poured with ice water on the head. The video is supposed to be published online within 24 hours of being challenged.
Before getting drenched, a participant can tag other people to take up the challenge. Those who refuse to do the dare are expected to donate to the ALS Association in the United States, or any foundation pursuing research on the disease.
