MANILA – When a female celebrity gets engaged, the first thing that people usually look at is her ring finger.
Just over the weekend, actress Heart Evangelista switched her relationship status to “engaged” following the proposal of Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero. All eyes were on Evangelista’s large heart-shaped ring, photos of which were shared by her celebrity friends.
As Evangelista shows off her engagement ring, here’s a look back at six more standout rocks in local show business over the past months.
Two weeks ago, actress Marian Rivera got engaged for the second time to her long-time boyfriend, Dingdong Dantes.
Dantes popped the question during Rivera’s dance show in another network, with the actor on one knee while holding a Harry Winston engagement ring.
Rivera and Dantes first got engaged in Macau two years ago.
Last March, TV host Bianca Gonzalez said she is the “happiest girl in the world” following her engagement to basketball player JC Intal.
Intal proposed to Gonzalez at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2, with the TV host welcomed by airline officials at the check-in counter with red roses and a banner that read: “Bianca, please say yes.”
Gonzalez and Intal became public with their relationship in 2011.
Shortly before Gonzalez’ engagement, singer Yeng Constantino got an engagement ring from her first boyfriend, worship director Victor Asuncion.
Constantino met Asuncion through a common friend. They became a couple on June 18, 2013.
Just recently, Constantino released a music video featuring her and Asuncion in scenic locations.
Last year, Miss Universe 1999 first runner-up Miriam Quiambao got engaged for the second time after getting a ring from Christian motivational speaker and author Ardy Roberto.
Quiambao and Roberto tied the knot last March in Tagaytay.
Bossa nova singer Sitti Navarro announced her engagement to her non-showbiz boyfriend last month.
Blogger-host Tricia Centenera got engaged to dancer Gab Valenciano last May.
Centenera and Valenciano met three years ago on the set of the ABS-CBN variety show “ASAP.”
BONUS: Enchong Dee
Last June, actor Enchong Dee shared that he received an engagement ring from a fan in Vienna, Austria, where he took part in an ABS-CBN event.
The fan, named Nikki Savet, also sent a letter to Dee expressing her love for the actor.
On Instagram, Dee said in jest that he is officially engaged to Savet.
