Latest cars at Philippine International Motor Show

MANILA, Philippines -- The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), the country’s premier organization of vehicle manufacturers and assemblers recently kicked off the much-awaited 4th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). Happening until Sunday, August 19, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, the motor show features booths from its 13 CAMPI members, showcasing their very latest automotive offerings.

The event’s theme is “Drive the Fun,” conceived in support of the Department of Tourism’s “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign and embodies CAMPI’s aspiration for the PIMS to become a tourism attraction as one of the top motoring events in the region.

“This is a clear sign that the industry is on the road to recovery and in achieving its targets in the industry road map,” said Atty. Rommel Gutierrez, who is also vice president at Toyota Motor Philippines Corp.

Visitors can visit the booths of BMW, Chrysler, Daewoo Bus, Dodge, Honda, Isuzu, Jeep, JMC, Kia, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Suzuki, and Toyota and see upcoming and newly released vehicles like the Kia Quoris, Mitsubishi Mirage, Nissan Almera, Suzuki Kizashi, Toyota 86 Aero and JMC Orion S350.

The manufacturers also took the opportunity to bring in special vehicles like the Honda CRZ Mugen, Honda Insight, Mitsubishi Outlander, 1987-89 Mitsubihi Galant VR-4 World Rally Car, Nissan Juke, Nissan 370Z convertible and Lexus LFA to excite automotive enthusiasts.

Those interested in in car culture itself can browse through Automotive Designers' Row: a photo exhibit and biography of automotive designers of the participating brands. There’s also an Automobilia and Heritage Display with various auto and art collectibles, as well as a die cast display by the Die Cast Collectors of the Philippines.

In addition to the exhibition booths, the PIMS will also feature Special Auto Financing Promo for visitors care of its platinum sponsor, BDO Unibank. Those interested buyers can also proceed to the Test Drive area to try the new makes and models from all participating brands.

Afterward, PIMS ticket holders can avail of special discounts for a car wash by Autobot Paint and Bodyworks and for car tinting by Winterpine. A number of after-maket manufacturers will also have booths to features their latest vehicle accessories, upgrades and packages.

In addition to browsing vehicles, there are also a number of activities for members of the whole family. Meguiar's Philippines will host a session on car detailing. PIMS visitors can pose as winners in a car rally at the”‘Drive the Fun Photo Ramp,” a real-life auto ramp used in car rallies complete with arch and livery.

There will be a Drive the Fun Kiddie Treasure Hunt open to kids ages 6 to 12 years old, an automotive trivia game with exciting prizes for future car enthusiasts. Younger kids can play at the Fun Bounce Inflatable structure.

Car Clubs will also gather for their grand eyeball meets and other club activities while food trucks provided by Atoy Customs and catered by Chefs’ Quarters Group of Foodservice Companies will provide tasty eats.

Finally, an Adventure Rally and Golf Cart Challenge will take place on the weekend, featuring participating auto brands driving to various points of interest within Metro Manila for a scavenger hunt.

Those interested to visit the PIMS can take the fun party bus rides, courtesy of Starbright Bodykits. This free shuttle bus service will come from the Bluewave Commercial Complex on Diosdado Macapagal Avenue.
