MANILA, Philippines - The ADHD Society of the Philippines will celebrate its 10th year this 2010 and will host the Biennial National Conference entitled "Empowering the Young ADHD Adult thru Transition."
The event will be held on October 25-26 at the St. Luke's Medical Center Auditorium in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
Topics to be discussed include: Faces of ADHD and accompanying conditions thru the life span; assessment process and medical management; finding a career that works for the ADHD; and peer relationships among individuals with ADHD.
Also to be tackled are methods on coaching, and skirting trouble.
According to kidshealth.org, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common behavioral disorder that affects about 8% to 10% of school-age children.
Children with ADHD are hyperactive, impulsive, and have difficulty focusing. They have a hard time sitting still, paying attention, or attending to details.
At the conference, child experts will speak on the said topics. Confirmed speakers include Dr. Leticia Ho (clinical psychologist, guidance counselor and educator), Dr. Ma. Monica Cardinez-Tan (psychiatrist), Rose Aligada (special education educator and administrator of the progressive school Lapis, Laro at Libro), and Maribel Dionisio (marital and family counselor).
The conference is geared toward parents of individuals with ADHD, teachers, school administrators, professionals and medical practitioners.
