MANILA, Philippines – Here’s another reason why it’s more fun in the Philippines as claimed by the country’s tourism slogan: its beauty queens know how to drop a beat.
Queenierich Rehman, the Philippines’ candidate to the Miss World pageant, once again stunned audiences with her beatbox performance during the contest’s talent portion.
A video of her performance, which was posted on YouTube, has gone viral on the web. It was also featured on Time magazine’s website and on The Huffington Post.
“Miss Philippines strode out on stage in an evening dress and began singing – but that was only a prelude to some serious funkiness. The 23-year-old then proceeded to bust out some serious beatboxing, ‘80s style, while singing and air-record scratching for good measure,” Time.com’s Tim Newcomb wrote.
“Other contestants, consider the mic dropped,” he added.
Rehman earlier impressed the local crowd with her beatboxing, seen as one of the many reasons why she earned the chance to represent the Philippines in this year’s Miss World pageant.
The winner will be crowned on August 18.
