MANILA -- First, Americans tried food items from Jollibee. Then they sampled isaw and kwek-kwek. This time, the staff of the US social news website BuzzFeed got a taste of popular Filipino snacks.

A video of the taste test, titled "Americans Try Filipino Snacks For The First Time," was uploaded by BuzzFeed on Youtube on Thursday, and has more than 154,000 views as of posting.

In the video, the BuzzFeed staff tried Filipino snacks such as Haw Haw milk powder candy, Hansel Mocha Sandwich, Kirei Yummy Flakes, and Mik-Mik chocolate powder.

One person compared the texture of Haw Haw milk candy to American Smarties candies, while another compared it to Flintstones vitamins.

"So in the Philippines they like everything so much they say it twice," said another taste tester.

Almost all of the taste testers liked Hansel Mocha Sandwich, with some of them saying that it smells like coffee and pancakes.

They had a hard time deciding whether they like Mik-Mik choco powder, after almost all of them started coughing as soon as they "inhaled" the power through a small plastic straw.

"It tastes like you just need to add hot water," one of the taste testers said.
