MANILA – (UPDATED) "Chicago", one of the longest-running musicals on Broadway and West End, will come to Manila for the first time this December, producers announced on Friday.

In a statement, Concertus Manila said “Chicago” will run at The Theatre at Solaire from December 2 to 21 and will feature an all-American cast.

Tickets are available at TicketWorld and are priced at P1,750 to P7,500 each.

"Chicago is a very clever, sophisticated, sexy show," said Lunchbox Theatrical Productions CEO James Cundall. "And it's because of this it has managed to maintain its longevity and sensuality throughout its blockbuster productions all over the world. The proof is the fact that it is now the number one longest-running American musical in Broadway history."

Set in the 1920s, "Chicago" tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. To avoid conviction, Hart dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate by hiring Chicago's top criminal lawyer.

The musical has won six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy Award, and has been adapted into a movie starring Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere.
