Filipino feng shui expert Marites Allen extends her feng shui guidance to fashion to help overseas Filipinos become more stylish and auspicious at the same time.
Allen recently launched her clothing line, Frigga, in London. The collection includes casual and formal wear for men and women, with each piece promising good fortune to the person who wears it.
“Ito ‘yung mga damit na pwede nating isuot na pampaswerte. Kasi sa Pilipinas, we are very known for feng shui,” she said.
“These are symbols of good fortune,” Allen said of the pieces from her collection. “May disenyo tayo kanina na it was coming from the power of 8. It’s called the mystic knot so for example, you want to have an income flow, prosperity, sinong ayaw di ba?”
Former beauty queen turned actress and TV host Ruffa Gutierrez co-hosted the launch of Allen’s new clothing line.
Gutierrez said she is a strong believer of feng shui as she relies on it for an extra dose of luck.
“I do follow some bits and pieces of it,” she said. “For example, [during] contract signing and in terms of what to wear, and who my allies should be.”
But she was quick to add: “But of course, I do live my life on a day to day basis and I do follow God.”
The brightly colored kaftans and dresses with mystic knots and flower prints are said to maintain harmony in marriage or attract partners.
“If there is something we can wear on a daily basis, we can count on the symbols at depende ‘yan sa aspirations mo sa buhay,” Allen said.
Ultra-feminine blouses with ruffles and layered dresses with sassy ponchos in auspicious prints promise to boost income opportunities and cash flow.
For the Filipinos who attended the event, it was an opportunity to increase their “luck.”
