Ford revives muscle car fever with Mustang

MANILA, Philippines – Ford revives muscle car fever with the recent unveiling of the newest addition to their local line-up, the much-awaited Mustang.

The new Mustang is the fourth vehicle the company has launched in the Philippines this year, following the all-new Ford Ranger, the all-new Ford Explorer 2.0L with EcoBoost and the all-new Ford Focus.

First launched in 2005, this fifth-generation Mustang features a body inspired by the original Mustang first launched in the 1960s. It will be available in two variants – the 3.7L Mustang V6 Premium and the 5.0L Mustang V8 GT Premium.

For 2012, the front end of the new Mustang offers an aggressive design with a prominent grille. High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps are fitted as standard, accentuated with two individual light-emitting diode (LED) bars. The rear of the car maintains the sequential turn signal Mustang is known for made up of three high-tech LED bars.

“This Mustang design is very respectful of its heritage, while continuing to look forward with a powerful
and modern look,” said Vinay Piparsania, Ford Group Philippines' vice president for marketing and sales.

Additionally, the Mustang V8 GT Premium offers customers additional features such as functional heat extractors on the hood, LED fog lamps, 19-inch aluminum wheels, a Brembo Brake Package, a glass roof, charcoal-black leather interior and heated mirrors with a pony projection light.

Powering the vehicles are a 3.7-liter V6 engine that delivers 305 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque and a 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers 420 PS of power and 529 Nm of torque. It is paired with a six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission that offers the driver a choice between fully automatic operation and manual control. The Mustang also offers customers selectable steering that tailors the driving experience to fit their needs.

Inside, customers will find a 4.2-inch LCD screen that lets them access information related to fuel economy and vehicle performance. Ford’s built-in SYNC system provides hands-free, voice-activated in-car connectivity to almost any mobile phone or digital media player via Bluetooth.

As for safety, a comprehensive suite of advanced active and passive safety technologies include up to six airbags, AdvanceTrac with Electronic Stability Control, a four-wheel disc brake system with ABS, traction control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System and a Reverse Sensing System with rear-view camera (for the V8 GT Premium).

The new Ford Mustang will be priced at P2,499,000 for the 3.7L Mustang V6 Premium and P2,899,000 for the 5.0L Mustang V8 GT Premium. Customer deliveries will start in September.
