Weekend guide: Cinemalaya in UP, organic food festival

Cinemalaya goes to UP

The University of the Philippines’ Cineastes Studio brings selected Cinemalaya 2012 films to UP Diliman in Quezon City.

The event, which will run until August 14 at the UP Film Center’s Cine Adarna, also features films from the first Sineng Pambansa.

Here are the films that will be screened this Saturday:

4 p.m. – In Barangka Ha Ut Sin Duwa Sapah (from Sineng Pambansa)
7 p.m. – Ang Mga Kidnapper Ni Ronnie Lazaro (from Sineng Pambansa)
9 p.m. – Ang Nawawala

‘Two Funerals’ on Cinema One

Award-winning Cinemalaya film “Two Funerals” starring Tessie Tomas, Jeffrey Quizon and Xian Lim will be aired on cable channel Cinema One this Sunday.

The film marks Lim’s first appearance in a full-length movie.

“Two Funerals” follows the life of a mother (Tomas) who searches for the body of her daughter (Princess Manzon) after getting mixed up with the corpse of a wanted man. To claim back her daughter’s body, Tomas travels with her daughter’s fiancé Gerry (Lim) from Cagayan to Sorsogon.

They then encounter a series of events where the country’s societal ills are depicted.

“Two Funerals” will be aired on Sunday at 8 p.m.


Tiendesitas organic food festival

Enjoy healthy food and live entertainment at the Tiendesitas organic food festival, which will be held until Sunday.

Aside from the fresh and organic products on sale, the event will also feature film showings and an open forum for guests and enthusiasts.

The organic food festival opens at 11 a.m. and ends and 9 p.m.


Kapamilya stars’ mall tour

Cast members of ABS-CBN shows “Angelito: Ang Bagong Yugto,” “Precious Hearts Romances presents Pintada” and “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan” will be at the SM Fairview Annex Activity Center on Sunday for a mall tour.

The event will feature games and musical performances by JM de Guzman, Charee Pineda, Kaye Abad, Denise Laurel, Yen Santos, Lemuel Pelayo, Andi Eigenmann, Iza Calzado and Jake Cuenca.

“Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4” grand winner Myrtle Sarrosa, Yves Flores and Kit Thompson, who will be part of “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan,” will also make an appearance.

Admission to the event is free.


TV Patrol silver anniversary special on ABS-CBN

Anchors and reporters of “TV Patrol” took a break to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the country’s leading newscast last July 27 at the Manila Hotel.

Noli de Castro serenaded the crowd while Korina Sanchez sang the Filipino classic “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko” in “25 Taong Patrol ng Pilipino: The TV Patrol Silver Anniversary Special,” which will be aired on Sunday, 11 p.m. on ABS-CBN channel 2.

Other highlights of the show include the dance number of “TV Patrol Weekend” anchor Pinky Webb and Star Patrollers Gretchen Fullido, Phoemela Barranda, Ginger Conejero and Marie Lozano.

Also expect performances from Kapamilya stars Dulce, Vina Morales, Basil Valdez, Bituin Escalante, Jed Madela, Gloc 9, Freddie Aguilar and the Watawat Band, Pepe Smith, Erik Santos, Angeline Quinto, Jovit Baldivino and Marcelito Pomoy.
