MANILA, Philippines – Sadako of hit Japanese horror film “The Ring” is set to hit selected Philippine cinemas next month.
Local mall giant SM will have exclusive rights to “Sadako The Ring 3,” which will premiere in the country on August 8.
The film was originally titled “Sadako 3D,” and was released in Japan last May 2012. Reports said there is no available 3D format with English subtitles; thus, the Philippine release will only be on 2D.
SM provided a synopsis of the “Sadako The Ring 3,” which is marketed as “the final chapter to the most terrifying ghost story ever told.”
“Akane is a high school teacher who hears a rumor from her students that there is actual footage on the Internet of someone’s suicide. The footage is said to drive anyone who sees it to also commit suicide.
“Akane does not believe the rumor at first, but when one of her female students dies after viewing the footage, she and her boyfriend Takanori are fatefully drawn into the horror that has been created by the man who appears in the suicide footage, Kashiwada.
“Kashiwada’s intention is to create chaos in the world by bringing back Sadako and the power of her curse. Now Akane has to fight against Sadako and Kashiwada to save the lives of herself and Takanori.”
“Sadako 3D” is based on the novel “S” by the creator of “The Ring,” Koji Suzuki. The film stars Satomi Ishihara, Koji Seto and Tsutomi Takahashi.
