MANILA, Philippines - An all-new original Filipino musical chronicling the life of former President Cory Aquino just opened last weekend in Manila.
"Cory ng EDSA", written and directed by Vincent M. Tañada, tells the story of Aquino through the eyes of Peter, a reporter who covered her life, from her struggles and victories to her eventual death.

Aquino is depicted in the musical as one who "influenced and inspired the entire nation through her humility and sincerity" from the time of the Marcos regime to the People Power administration.
Peter is joined by Rey, a widower of a desaparecidos, and Jason, a poll watcher in the 1986 snap presidential elections.
"Cory ng EDSA", the sequel to the musical "Ako si Ninoy", is a production of Philippine Stagers Foundation (PSF).
The libretto is set to original music by Pipo O. Cifra. Choreography is by John Paul B. San Antonio.
Playing the role of Aquino is Cindy Maree Liper, with Glory Ann Nacional as her alternate.
Other actors are Vince Tañada and Patrick Adrian Libao as Peter, Jordan Menaro Ladra as Rey, Alex Dorola as Jason, and PSF’s ensemble.
"Cory ng EDSA" has playdates on July 31, August 6-7, 13-14, 18, 20-21 and 28; September 4, 10-11, 17-18, 24-25, and; October 2, and 15-16.
