MANILA, Philippines – Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon has long been enshrined as the King of Philippine Comedy through his countless movies and TV sitcoms, but his sons are taking it a step further by immortalizing him on their own skin.

Vandolph Quizon, who starred with his father in defunct comedy show “Home Along Da Riles,” showed to ABS-CBN News his tattoo on his left arm, which shows an image of Dolphy praying.

The tattoo was done by artist Jaime Tud.

“Honored [ako] kasi parang ‘yun na rin ‘yung pinaka-tribute ko, nai-tattoo ko siya sa balat ni Vandolph. Parang kasama ko na siya sa pagpapakita ni Vandolph ng pagmamahal sa tatay niya,” Tud said.

For his part, Vandolph said: “When I pray, he is praying with me at the same time. He died peacefully.”

Dolphy died on Tuesday night after a five-year battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 83.

His other son, Dino, got a tattoo of Dolphy’s face on both his arms.

“Para habangbuhay ko kasama ang Daddy ko,” Dino said.

There is also John, one of Dolphy’s grandsons, who showed his tattoo with the Comedy King’s face and a Philippine flag.

He had it done last year, before Dolphy turned 83.

“Nag-isip kami ng ireregalo sa kanya kasi birthday niya,” John said.

Other members of the Quizon family, meanwhile, are planning to follow suit. – With a report from Pia Gutierrez, ABS-CBN News
