'Lupin III' live action film to be screened in Manila

MANILA – Aside from the two-part sequel of “Rurouni Kenshin,” another live action film based on a popular manga and anime series will be screened in Manila soon.

SM Cinema announced on its Facebook page that it will screen the “Lupin III” live action movie, which follows the escapades of a master thief.


“Lupin III” will be released in Japan on August 30. Playing the titular role is Shun Oguri, who is known to many for his portrayal of Rui Hanazawa in the Japanese drama “Boys Over Flowers.”

His nemesis, Michael Lee, will be played by Jerry Yan, who is popular in the Philippines for his role as Dao Ming Si in the Taiwanese series “Meteor Garden.”

The live action movie of “Rurouni Kenshin” starring Takeru Satoh was screened in Manila in December 2012. The first part of the two-part sequel will be released here on August 20.

Meanwhile, SM Cinema will also screen the live action movie of the manga “Black Butler” starting July 23.
