MANILA -- Karylle looks every bit a princess in the first image released of her as Cinderella.
Starting October, the 32-year-old Kapamilya singer will be seen on stage as the title character of the well-loved fairy tale via a "big-budget" Resorts World Manila production.
On Tuesday, Resorts World Manila shared the first peek of Karylle as the maltreated step-daughter whose misfortune turns at the flick of a fairy godmother's wand.
The image (above) depicts the classic fairy tale's climactic scene, where Cinderella flees in haste to beat the stroke of midnight, leaving on her trail the glass slipper that would become key to her happy future.
Before "Cinderella," Karylle had several theater outings, including, Trumpets' "Little Mermaid" (2000), Atlantis Productions' "Seussical" (2007), Stages' "West Side Story" (2008), and most recently, the critically acclaimed "Rama Hari" (2012).
Joining her in Resorts World Manila's latest production is her frequent leading man, balladeer Christian Bautista, who will portray the Prince.
The popular rags-to-riches tale, as told through the music of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, was first brought to Manila in 2008. At the time, Tony Award winner Lea Salonga played the title role.
