MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino culture hits center stage at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend in a show organized by Black Eyed Peas member apl.de.ap.
The event dubbed "Apl.de.Ap Takes You to the Philippines — A Celebration of Global Filipino Music" will be held at the famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on July 8.
The Filipino-American member of the Grammy winning group said the Hollywood Bowl annually celebrates the cultural heritage of the various ethnic groups in the Los Angeles area.
"This year they wanted Philippine culture for the event," said apl.de.ap or Allan Pineda in real life. "It's the first all-Filipino original music concert at the Hollywood Bowl."
Among the Filipino artists who will be part of the show are Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid and the band Sandwich.
US-based Filipinos Becca Godinez, Dessa, DJ E-Man, Harana Kings, Kayamanan Ng Lahi, Legaci, Jeremy Passion, the Philippine Chamber Singers of Los Angeles and Poet Rondalla Club of Los Angeles will also participate in the show.
Black Eyed Peas members will.i.am and Taboo, as well as part-Filipino singer Nicole Scherzinger are also expected to grace the event.
The show will be hosted by Hollywood actor Lou Diamond Phillips, "High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens, Anthony Valdez and Jo Koy.
