MANILA, Philippines – Kapamilya singer-actress Karylle traded her chef’s costume on “The Kitchen Musical” for a more sophisticated look on her first cover of Metro, which happened to be magazine’s “beauty issue.”
Fresh from her nomination at the 52nd Festival de Television de Monte Carlo for her role in the hit pan-Asian series, Karylle wears couture creations from the Philippines’ top designers for Metro’s July 2012 issue.
In her note, editor-in-chief Michealle Torres said working with Karylle made her see “a unique beauty that shines through genuine smiles and a down-to-earth attitude.”
The singer-actress, for her part, said on Twitter: “Big thank you to my Metro family! You make me feel great!”
Metro’s beauty issue comes with the magazine’s annual Beauty Awards, where it selects the best treatments, services, makeup, fragrance and skin care products.
It also features makeup tips from Bianca Valerio and Nina Ricci Alagao as well as beauty secrets of Miss World 2011 First Princess Gwendolyn Ruais.
The magazine also charts celebrities and their “journey to being beautiful.” Among them are model Pauline Prieto, actor Albert Martinez, socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdes and celebrity doctor Vicki Belo.
Metro, the flagship magazine of ABS-CBN Publishing, has been praised for featuring women achievers on their covers including congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez, “supermom” Mikee Cojuangco Jaworski and top stars like Kim Chiu and Anne Curtis.
