MANILA - A 21-year-old graduate from UP Diliman left good impressions at the recent international Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity 2014.
Anna Katrina Pizarro, who earned her UP diploma a year ago, was the youngest participant and was the only Filipino at the Young Media Academy program of the festival.
She was part of the winning team composed of three other students in a challenged posed by Ivan Pollard, Coca-Cola's vice president of global connections.
This year's Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, which is an annual event celebrating the world's most brilliant advertising and marketing campaigns, was held from June 15 to 21.
Among the grand winners at the festival this year was the viral Volvo ad featuring action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, titled "Epic Split."
It picked up two top awards in Film and Cyber categories.
A Christmas ad from a London-based luxury brand also won big as it won a Grand Prix across four categories -- the most in the week-long festival -- including Film, Integrated, Press, and Promo & Activation.
The ad, titled "Sorry I Spent It On Myself," is a series of cheeky stabs at the convention around common holiday advertising.
