MANILA, Philippines – Flip-flops with designs inspired by eight schools were recently launched in time for the opening of Season 75 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines on July 14.

UAAP and ABS-CBN Licensing, which airs the sports events on Studio 23, teamed up with Brazilian slipper brand Havaianas for the new merchandise.

The eight pairs of rubber slippers come in the universities’ respective colors. Flip-flops representing Ateneo de Manila University and Adamson University, for instance, are in white and different shades of blue.

Yellow and black, meanwhile, are the prominent colors in the slippers representing the University of Santo Tomas.

“It’s fun. I love the new designs. I hope these flip-flops would be distributed soon,” said Jackie Junio, a swimmer at the University of the Philippines.

Jeric Fortuna, point guard of UST’s varsity basketball team, for his part said: “I feel lucky I got the chance to wear a pair of UST-themed flip-flops in UAAP just in time before I graduate.”

The limited edition UAAP collection of Havaianas will hit stores on July 6. These will be available exclusively at all branches of All Flip-Flops, Complex and Rustan’s in Manila. is the news website of ABS-CBN.
