June is traditionally the most popular month for couples to get married, for some a good time to start planning.

But in the process of preparing for the big day, some couples tend to get lost along the way.

In an interview on ANC’s Shop Talk, Metro Weddings editor-in-chief Michelle Katigbak-Alejandro said the key is becoming familiar with trends as these will serve as a guide to their wedding planning.

She noted, for instance, that new designers such as Vania Romoff and Kristel Yulo are slowly becoming known for their fresh and elegant bridal pieces. There are also ready-to-wear gowns from top designers like Jun Escario and Veluz, as well as intricate dresses from Francis Libiran.

Katigbak-Alejandro said those who are still exploring wedding colors and themes can opt for a very formal white-tie affair. She also suggested woodland weddings for those who like the outdoors, as well as bright and colorful themes.

For giveaways, Katigbak-Alejandro said couples can come up with something that is beautiful yet functional. She noted that trinkets can end up being misplaced or disposed of by guests after a few months.

Here are other reminders from Katigbak-Alejandro on planning a wedding:

1. Plan ahead to avoid stress.

2. Don’t scrimp on photography and videography as these will draw you back into those magical moments of your day.

3. Learn when to save and when to spend.

4. Make sure to delegate tasks to your wedding coordinator, especially on your big day.

5. Get input from family members and friends.
