MANILA – This restaurant in Davao has been the go-to merienda place of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte since the '70s.

Duterte has been a loyal customer of Cecil’s, which opened in 1963. The restaurant is known for its cakes and sweet treats, but the tough-talking former Davao City mayor is often spotted ordering Cecil’s savory items.

More specifically, Duterte’s favorite snacks here include tuna and chicken sandwich, fried lumpia, pancit palabok and empanada.

Sometimes, the President-elect even offers these same dishes to his guests at the Pañacanang, or the Malacañang of the South.
