Get a glimpse of the Manila's celebration of global music festival, "Fete dela Musique." I recently dropped by the festival's main stage event to hang out with friends from the French embassy and music industry.

"Fete Dela Musique" is a world music day that is celebrated around the world during the 3rd week of June. It originated in Paris, France in 1982 and has been successfully celebrated in Manila over the years thru the leadership of the Embassy of France in Manila and The Alliance Française de Manille.

According France's Ambassador to the Philippines, Gilles Garachon, Pinoys and French share a common love for music.

"I think French and Filipinos share a common passion in music. Events like these strengthen our bond and expand the presence and awareness of French culture," says Ambassador Garachon.

Amb. Garachon is also happy and positive about our growing economy and tourism.

"I think the economic condition of the Philippines is well deserved.. More French tourists are now very interested in the country. We are happy to help promote tourism thru our events," he adds.

The festival brought together music fans, tourists and party people who hopped around the 9 pocket venues namely Time in Manila, B-side, Sagujio, Bayleaf Lounge, Society Lounge, H&J, Cafe Curiex, Live Vibe, Buddha Bar, Chihuahuam, catering to diverse genres of music.

Over 100 established and upcoming musical talents of rock, jazz, electronica, soul, indie, hip-hop, latin, blues, ska, world, chill-out and reggae all supported the event.

Fete's Main Stage at A-Venue

The main stage at A-Venue open parking headlined French Electro-Pop group, the Naive New Beaters, also known as NNBS.

Everyone rocked to the beat of NNBS' David Boring, Martin Luther BB King, and Eurobelix, who hit the stage with their eclectic get-up!

I enjoyed NNBS' music and fun vibe, their sound mixes rap, punk rock and electro house.

12 Stone's Barbie Almalbis and Kitchie Nadal, Up Dharma Down, SinoSikat, Noli Aurillo, Bayang Barrios Lady-I, Yolanda Moon, Hidden Nikki and Razorback were among the OPM artists who performed on the main stage.

It was nice to bump into my uncle Tommy Tanchanco, head-honcho of 12 Stone Records, who was happy to support the event.

"On behalf of me and the Twelve Stone family, it's an honor to be part of this event," says Tommy Tanchanco.

Fete Dela Musique 2013 was made possible by The Alliance Française de Manille, the Embassy of France in the Philippines, and B-Side Productions, together with A.Venue Mall and the City of Makati.
