MANILA, Philippines – After the success of its first "zombie" run last April, organizers of Outbreak Manila announced its "sequel" scheduled next month -- a night run at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Thousands ran for their lives while being chased by hordes of "zombies" in the first survival-themed race last April 14 at Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

The organizers announced the second race, which will be held on July 28, late Monday on their Facebook page.

"It's harder to run from what you can't see," they teased on Facebook, with a link to two-minute "mini-movie" to promote the event.

Fans immediately expressed their excitement about the night run.

"This will be so cool! Urban night run! With freaking zombies!" Marc Junan Mordeno Gomez wrote on Outbreak Manila's Facebook page.

"Saya nito…Pinapanood ko pa lang gusto ko nang tumakbo. This will surely be a hit. Malalaman ang lakas ng Outbreak kahit short notice at may ibang run the following day," Lanss Borilla also commented on Facebook.

The concept is inspired by the US event “Run For Your Lives,” a 5-km obstacle course infested with "zombies."

“Our goal is to come up with a race that stands out from all the rest by giving people a cause that they would really run for. And what better cause can there be than to run as if your life depended on it?” the organizers previously explained.

Runners are provided three flags at the start of the race. The "zombies" are not out to eat your brains but get your flags. Runners must finish the course with at least one flag.

Runners are also encouraged to come in costume as no singlets will be given away as part of the race kit.

“Weapons” of any kind such as water guns, baseball bats and rocks, will not be allowed.
